Afternoon tea

Afternoon tea is one of Britain’s most prestigious food traditions. Afternoon tea has been a part of British food culture for hundreds of years. This delightful tradition is considered a small afternoon pick me up that the help of with one can endure until dinner. Afternoon tea usually consists of small sweet treats and savoury snacks such as sandwiches, not forgetting, of course, the British national drink - tea.

We wanted to bring the afternoon tea concept in an updated version to the picturesque Ateneum Art Museum. Think of afternoon tea as a peaceful (and delicious!) moment amidst the hustle and bustle of the city - take a moment to pamper yourself.

Cafe Höijer

Café Höijer

Cafe Höijer offers classic coffee products in an environment that indulges the senses – served to your table

The new Cafe Höijer serves classic coffee products on the third floor of the Ateneum Art Museum. There's also a wide selection of wines and coffee drinks available. The café is named after the architect Teodor Höijer, who designed Ateneum.

Over the years, the space occupied by Cafe Höijer has been used for various purposes, including the Finnish Academy of Fine Arts' sculpture hall, the State Art Museum's Museum of Contemporary Art Studio N, and Cafe Cubus during the Picasso exhibition. The space has also served as an exhibition hall for the Ateneum.

Cafe Höijer will always be open at the same time as the changing exhibitions on the third floor of Ateneum. During the exhibition changeovers, the cafe will be closed due to artwork transportation and renovations.
